Why does eXoSpace crash on startup?

This may be a problem related to your graphics drivers. Here are some things you can try:

• Make sure your graphics drivers are up-to-date.
• Change the rendering backend. You can do this by choosing the "Configure eXoSpace Combat Engineer" launch option in Steam (accessible by right clicking the game in the library list and choosing "Properties"). Try Vulkan and DirectX 12 first and only use OpenGl as a last resort, as this implementation is least wel supported (though it should work).

Why does my game hang / lock up after starting?

This is a problem reported by some users. I'm working on determining the cause, but I could use your help to diagnose this.

In the launcher you can view the log of the last run of the game. Please e-mail this log to [email protected].

Why is the game performance poor?

If the game run slowly on your computer, try going to settings and changing "Graphics" to "Fast" (restarting the game is needed). This will disable MSAA and Bloom, which will speed up rendering significantly.

Alternatively, you can try changing the graphics backend in the launcher. Sometimes specific graphics adapters (and their drivers) work better with specific rendering backends.

Why is my sound distorted?

There is a known issue with Razer 7.1 spatial audio enabled. The workaround is to disable Razer spatial audio until this is fixed.

Why do keypresses sometimes drop, e.g. when controlling a spaceship?

There is a known issue with keypresses that are being dropped while playing eXoSpace in windowed mode, if you move the mouse cursor outside of the window. A workaround until this is fixed is to play full-screen or keep the mouse inside the window.

File locations

• Game data location: right click the game in the Steam Library, choose "Manage" -> "Browse Local Files". On Windows this is usually something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\eXoSpace Demo\game_data.
• Save data location: on Windows this is usually a sub-folder of C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Fantastimaker.
